Qualcomm Incorporated, the winner of Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum in four telecom circles in India, today announced Global Holding Corporation Pvt. Ltd. and Tulip Telecom Ltd. as initial shareholders for its India LTE venture.
Subject to receipt of government approvals, Qualcomm will have a 74 percent stake in the venture, while Global Holding Corporation and Tulip Telecom will hold 13 percent each, as required by applicable Indian Foreign Direct Investment regulations. Qualcomm will have the benefit of the proven expertise of its initial shareholders to enable best-in-class mobile broadband for India. Global Holding Corporation is the holding company of the Global Group, which is a market leader in providing network services to India’s mobile operators and owns India’s largest independent and neutral telecom tower infrastructure.

GTL Infra completes Acquisition of Aircel Tower Business

GTL Infrastructure Limited (GTL Infra), a Global Group Enterprise, purchases the telecom tower business of Aircel Limited and its subsidiaries (Aircel) in an all cash deal valued at an enterprise value of Rs. 8400 Crores. This deal enhances GTL Infra’s scale and presence in the telecom sector.
GTL Limited (GTL) has been appointed by MSEDCL as a distribution franchise in the city of Aurangabad for 15 years. As a Distribution Franchisee of MSEDCL, GTL will be responsible for the power distribution in the city of Aurangabad Urban Divisions I and II, based on the input power supplied by MSEDCL. It will also be responsible for Network O&M, New Service Connections, Customer Care, and Upgrading, Improving and Augmenting the network capacity. All the activities shall be carried out under the close supervision and guidelines of MSEDCL. The tariff charged will be as per MERC tariff orders applicable from time to time.
AIt will be GTL’s endeavor to provide efficient power distribution including prompt meter reading and flexible billing services, introducing new options for convenient bill payments, prompt resolution of customer complaints and a superior experience.

GTL was awarded the Top Company of the Year in the Telecom Turnkey segment for 2009-10 as per the V&D 100 survey carried out by Voice & Data- India’s No.1 communication magazine. The award ceremony was hosted at the Shangri La hotel, New Delhi. The award was presented by Mr. Naresh Ajwani, Chief Regulatory & Corporate Affairs Quippo, to Mr. S K Roy of GTL.
